Take note of the wider hips, pronounced rear spoiler which we can only assume to be carbon fiber, as is the front splitter and side skirts. There’s also the altered front grille, which was already previewed by the Stingray Gran Turismo Concept from SEMA a month ago.
Meanwhile the engine, a supercharged Gen 5 Small Block V8 with a red cover, is anticipated to produce as much as 600 horsepower. This essentially quashes rumors of the C7 Z06 running an all-motor engine, like the C6 model ran with the mighty LS7. We expect this supercharged mill to be named either LT5 or LTX, based on trademark filings. However, the engine was leaked (or shopped) previously.
Despite the photo, Chevrolet officials confirmed to us at the time of this writing that it’s not the real thing. It’s a “photoshop job, and not a very good one,” making note of how blurry the wheels are.
