General Motors and its joint ventures set a new sales record for the month of October, selling 282, 446 vehicles last month. Sales were up 12.2 percent in comparison to last October, as sales from GM’s SAIC-GM-Wuling and Shanghai GM manufacturing joint ventures and its major brands reached record sales highs for the month.
Buick sold 69, 746 vehicles in China during the month of October, an increase of 15.3 percent year over year. Chevrolet sales jumped eight percent on an annual basis, selling 59, 006 units last month. Meanwhile, Cadillac continues to rev up, and experienced a sales increase in China year on year of 68.7 percent, selling 4, 202 units. The Cadillac XTS set an all-time monthly sales record of 2, 292 units.
Wuling sales jumped 14.2 percent to 135, 687 units. It was led by the Hong Guang MPV which had sales of 55, 150 units a 61.2 percent increase year on year. Baojun sales were down 27 percent from last October, moving 8, 0006 vehicles off the lots.
During the first 10 months of 2013, GM and its joint ventures sold a record 2, 594, 864 units in China, an increase of 11.2 percent on an annual basis.
