GM has found that 14,909 2013 model year Malibus in the United States, 13 in Canada and 7 in Mexico are to be examined by local Chevy dealers.
The issue? certain units with power front seats may have been born with faulty wiring harnesses that may eventually cause a fire. When the wiring harness rubs against the seat frame, there’s a chance that it could cause “sparking, flickering lights, melted wiring, smoke or a fire.”
Thus far, there have been two recorded fires, but both occurred in unoccupied vehicles, and there have been no related injuries or crashes. If your vehicle is affected, you’ll surely be notified by GM, and receive a courtesy fix, per the norm.
