What you see above is a photo of a supercharged LT1 V8, as evident by the consistency of the throttle body, and supercharger pulley that reminds us of what’s found on the LSA and LS9 engines powering the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and C6 Corvette ZR1, respectively. And according to LSXTV, the engine carries a 6.2L displacement. Is this the LT5? LT4? LT6? LTX? Nobody, except GM Small Block engineers, know at this point it seems.
However, let’s refer back to a batch of leaked CAD renderings from before the 2014 Corvette Stingray was officially unveiled. In the report, we mentioned that this rendering was tied to the LT4 engine name. Secondly let’s look at the color and shape of the engine cover in the rendering below, and let’s compare it to the live photo above. It’s too similar to be coincidental. So at this point we can only assume that there is a supercharged C7 Corvette coming, but whether it’s the C7 Z06 or C7 ZR1, or something else entirely, is still our mystery to solve. Though we’d be willing to be that this engine finds itself in a variant of the sixth-generation 2016 Camaro, as well.
