Craigslist. If for some reason you or someone you know is looking for an obscure, strange and potentially dangerous car, always direct them to craigslist. We’ve found a 1996 Buick Century station wagon with the rear axle from a dually in it, a non-functioning mid-engine Corvette, and even a Chevrolet Lumina converted into a pickup and given the name “El Lumino.”
So weird place then. That’s why it comes as no surprise that Jalopnik found this ad for what are possibly two of the strangest cars we’ve ever seen. The ad for these two diesel Chevettes has left us with more questions than answers. Why does the green one have a greenhouse style plexiglass enclosure over it? What’s with the grille that’s been tacked on from another car? And why does the red one appear to have “Honest Cruiser” written on the fake spare tire? That isn’t very honest.
The price for all this early 80’s weirdness? $2,450, and you get an extra engine and 5-speed transmission. Small price really when you consider the exclusivity. You’ll be the only person on the road with a Chevette that’s been partially converted into a greenhouse. And hey, you could have the making of your very own LeMons racing fleet.
