Configurator For The 2014 Chevrolet SS Goes Live

General Motors has launched the web page and configurator for the 2014 Chevrolet SS. The first batch of the Australian made sports sedan left the shores of the land down under for the United States in September, but we have yet to hear of the car arriving at dealers.
If you’re feeling a bit creative today, the configurator might leave you a little underwhelmed. The SS is available in one trim level with the only options being a power sunroof and a spare tire and wheel. But it’s still fun to pick your favorite color for the car, right?
Why so limited in the options? Simply, the SS comes nearly fully loaded. And with all the boxes checked, the performance sedan comes in at $44, 470. Click here to have the most fun you’ve had all day, installing a spare tire and sunroof on a virtual Chevrolet sedan. Woo!
Need more blue and also needs to be sold in Canada dammit!
I hope this car gets Fusion Orange Metallic, Dark Forest Green Metallic, Tungsten Metallic, Opulent Blue Metallic, Purple Haze Metallic and Butte Red Metallic. I am still am hoping for a 2.0L Turbo I4 (VVT and iVLC) with around 280HP and 310TQ. A 3.6L Supercharged V6 (SIDI, VVT and AFM) with 390HP and 400TQ. And a 4.5L Twin Turbo (VVT and AFM) with 600HP and 590TQ. I hope there will be new interior colors (i.e. Tan/Brown and Gray/Blue). An ultra view moonroof would be nice too! New rims and rim colors would be great (ex. Black, Polished, White)
Sorry but you will remain hoping for a while as none of this is coming anytime soon.
I expect this car to remain the same pretty much for a couple years and we will see a Alpha based replacement built here with many more options including engines. Only one you list will be on the list 2.0 Turbo.
I know but reality sucks but GM in not going to invest a lot in a car they plan to replace in the not too distant future. They have already stated they are working on the replacement. I would not be surprised to see it built on the Cadillac and Camaro Alpha line here.
On the positive side the colors may get a boost each year with variation.
Note if Cadillac can offer a CTS and ATS then Chevy can offer a poor mans version of a SS and Impala. There is a reason there is no performance version of the Impala.
$ 46,270 with a spare and red hot 2. Although after going through all the colors and angles I’m kinda diggin’ the mystic green and its sedated sleeper look on it. The interior looks beautiful IMO. I’m just fine with only an auto gearbox. I’m at that point of not needing to be “rowin’ the gears”. Been there, done that.
The first batch is now on US soil but yet to reach dealers. Chevrolet’s configurator is nice but HSV’s is the best!
Am I the only one that is shocked GM has not brought any in early for road test?
It just strikes me odd as we have seen the Vette, Z/28 and CTS long before they hit the dealers and these are nearing the dealer with no road test?
Are they just playing it a little down due the few they will bring in or the comparisons to the G8? I don’t know as this has been a car with little real info on how it performs and drives other than the Holden reviews.
I expect they are being reviewed right now. The first batch of 900 have only just arrived. Prior to that, no stock to give to the press. They couldn’t fly to Australia to review a Holden version because none is equivalent to the SS.
I’m usually a fan of red sports cars but for some reason the black color on this car is growing on me. I’ll have to see the color red hot 2 in person before I give a final ruling on it. If it’s too bright of a red, I’ll go with black.
I’m glad the configurator is up…but there’s really not a lot to “configurate” lol…Anyway, I’ll take mine in Red with a Moon Roof, please.
