Johnny O’Connell drove off with a back-to-back Pirelli World Challenge GT-Class driver’s championship after winning a rainy round 14 in Houston. O’Connell got the win — and the championship — after first-place driver James Sofronas and his No. 14 Audi R8 fell out of contention late in the race from a flat tire.
For Cadillac Racing, this marks a back-to-back manufacturer’s championship.
Driver Andy Pilgrim placed third in the final round of the PWC season, serving a drive-through penalty for avoidable contact in the process. He also came behind O’Connell and Sofronas in driver’s points, with consistent driving and podium finishes through the entire season.
