To take nothing away from GM’s efforts of making electric vehicles more practical and more attainable, the company could just as well bring to market a six-figure electric vehicle of some sort, based on an Automotive News report. This would allow the automaker to combat Tesla Motors both on the low and high end of things.
GM Vice President of Global Product Programs Doug Parks says that in regards to its current EV portfolio, the ceiling doesn’t have to be with the 2014 Cadillac ELR, and could very well offer a vehicle into the $100,000 range or even more.
“We may do a couple of cars up there too because that’s a great place to be and we’re a full-line manufacturer,” Parks hinted. But for now, the main focus seems to be getting a 200-mile-range EV to market at an attainable price.
