The McLaren MP4-12C is pretty high up in the automotive food chain. From the factory, at least. The Opel Corsa, on the other hand, could be compared to a guppy, or perhaps a smelt, in the ocean of vehicles where the McLaren is the tiger shark. But this story is about cars, making sea creatures irrelevant.
So, this particular guppy Opel (or is it a Vauxhall Nova?) is armed with not just one, but two C20LET engines borrowed from the old Calibra Turbo, which are said to be tuned to produce around 350 horsepower each. That’s an alleged 700 horsepower and all-wheel-drive, while the RWD McLaren packs 650. Despite the near-similar numbers, it’s not even close in this drag-race video. Enjoy.
As a disclaimer, the sound doesn’t kick in after the opening clip until the 36-second mark, and the commentary is in German.
