It comes as no surprise, except to maybe one person, that the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 outperforms one of its predecessors, the 2009 Corvette C6 Z51, based on testing results by Edmunds. The same driver was used for both models, with the new Corvette out-accelerating the marginally lighter C6, and posting a faster quarter-mile time. Notably, both models have the same gear ratios through gears 1-6, with the 2014 Corvette offering a seventh gear.
However, what really stands out as huge improvements with the Stingray Z51 compared to the C6 Z51 are the braking distances (93 feet to 110 feet), skid pad (1.08G to .95 G), and slalom (72.8 mph to 67.9 mph). Impressive stuff.
