This Is How A Chevy Cruze Coupe SS Could Look

Chevy Cruze Coupe SS rendered
Share

You already saw GM’s interpretation of a Chevy Cruze coupe in the Code 140S concept that made its debut a year ago at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. But the rendering above of a hotted-up Cruze Coupe appeared in the GM Authority tip box earlier this morning, and it looks like it can kick the 140S’ ass, and then eat its lunch. Right in front of it.

Present and accounted for here are two doors leading to a (very sexy) sloping roof line, an aggressive front lower valance, a pair of sinister projector-beam headlamps, black wheels and black accents throughout the car (notice how the normally-golden Bow Tie is now black). And is it just us, or did this Cruze suddenly grow some hips?

So after staring at it for the last few minutes, we’ve grown quite fond of the rendering… how about you?

Hat tip to Jared A.

Either this or the Tru 140S, I’ll be the first in line to trade in my 2012 Sonic. I can promise you that.

Looks real good. The 2.0T would be a bunch of fun, though we can only dream.

So if I photoshop the front and lower portions of a Cruze and the back hatch portion of a Cobalt and some over exagerated fenders together then its cool, man let me boot up photoshop and go to town… Oh wait someone allready did… The rendering from a year and a half or so ago is much more realistic, this is almost rediculous unless your a teenager…

Won’t make it to market. Why? GM management will trot out their old statement “Americans don’t buy coupes”. (or wagons, or diesels, or hatchbacks or …)

Well they are putting out the only domestic diesel in a sedan that I know of. So Mark is trying.

I will sit here with bated breath to see IF the diesel Cruze sells.

And I give a 80% chance that there will be a coupe Cruze in 2 years on the new platform.

First does GM sell a coupe Cruze anywhere in the world? I searched and could not find one. If not my % goes down to 50%.

If GM doesn’t make the pricing on the diesel Cruze sky-high–like they tend to do with everything else that isn’t a base-model–I don’t see why the Cruze wouldn’t sell.

Unless (gasp!) all of those car-enthusiasts crying the same old “bring us diesels!” meme won’t actually put their money where their mouths are and buy the car!

        Hmm….

Chevy doesn’t offer low-cost high-performance vehicle anymore, that died with the Cobalt SS. It’s Unfortunately clear that Chevrolet does not want to pursue this kind of vehicle.
That’s why they have the Camaro the upcoming SS sedan and the Corvette.
the cheapest one is a Camaro for 23k. It’s good performance for the money, But I do know there are a lot of High-performance front-wheel-drive / hot hatchback lovers out there, I am still one of them, Unless Chevrolet surprises us all and releases the code 130R or 140R, Your best bet for an affordable performance car from Chevy is the Camaro.
Or you can go and find a used Cobalt SS, Or an HHR SS, If you have to have a Chevy.
Or you can switch teams and go get yourself a Focus ST. Or a Mazdaspeed3 Which is a very excellent high-performing little car. With crappy gas mileage…I used to have one…

Both the Focus ST and the MazdaSpeed 3 with any kind of options cost about $28,000 (just priced both for the Detroit area) so they are FAR from the affordable performance cars from GM. The Cobalt SS maxed out at $23,000. In the high $20′s you are getting into Verano Turbo price and you get a much more comfortable, easy to live with day to day ride.

But the verano is a 4 door.
There are countless numbers of people, like myself, who want an affordable 2 door sports car. My dream car is a ZL1, but even the least sport Camaro, talking SS, is like 25k.
For college kids like myself, that is out of the question. A Cruze SS would be perfect, it would be cheaper than the Camaro, and a good replacement for the Cobalt.

Chevy is lacking an affordable 2 door, and both the Tru 140S and the this concept are great choices for that.

I agree that it should be a 2 door, I am 6’4″ and hate looking at a B-Pillar out the side. I don’t think, however, that a Cruze SS would come in cheaper than the Camaro. A Turbo LTZ Cruze costs over $25K so I would think a SS version would be close to $30K…

There are some pretty good artists out there , any chance one could render this coupe with the Impala rear side window treatment , give the rear roof line a bit more height , and abbreviate the front end…it protrudes too much , also , get rid of that grill bar that is so outdated . Chevy never used to resort to this distracting grill nonsense . Don’t inset the grill but smooth it into the hood line to create a streamlined racy and hot looking machine ! Then install the german 1.6 liter engine with a dual turbo…my impression remains that the sleeper , understated look always blows away the crowd !

Sry but i would still take the TRU 140S. I dont like the Front of the Cruze. I dont realy like Chevrolet cars but i will buy the TRU instantly. The Exotic look, the headlights i love nearly everything on the TRU. I hope they build it and give me a 1.6l turbo eco (180 hp) and im the happyest man alive.

@Degalus And I would take the Cruze, as I love everything about it — including its design. The 140S, while a great-looking vehicle, won’t make its way to market in the way that you saw it two years ago.

The Cruze, in my opinion, is by far the best-looking compact vehicle on the market today. Not only does its design mix refinement/class with a sporty attitude, but it also ages gracefully; just to think that the car has been on the market since 2009… and in any event, the TRU is a sexied-up Cruze coupe with a higher belt line and decreased visibility. What I want to know, though, is what you don’t like about Chevrolet cars.

Im not realy a Fan of americanstyle cars ala musclecars. So the Most chevys dont hit my taste. Im more a Fan of exotic lambo style cars but not a single one is in my budget range. Chevrolet is the First how build a perfect looking car for my taste. I love the lights the hot design even the Grill on the tru is awesome. And i never liked the grills on the chevys. Maybe its because it is smaller and deeper on the tru. Also the 1,4 l Turbo Eco six gear FWD is not a problem for me, currently im driving a astra gtc 2012 with the Same Setting. The astra was also not soooo much my taste but still a little ( nice side lines) and the only one in my Budget range. And why no cruze? I dont like the Grill and the lights are horrible for my taste. Also he is a little bully and i hate 5 door cars.
All in all its only a matter of taste. So if chevy build the tru 140s like he looks on the Shows, they have a New buyer. If not … Shit happens.

Right. But the Cruze isn’t a “muscle car”. Neither is the Sonic/Aveo, Malibu, Captiva, etc… The only “muscle car” done the “American way” is the Camaro.

Either way, styling is subjective. But I sincerely believe that most will disagree with your assessment of Cruze’s styling… but that’s a very personal/subjective topic, so no use in arguing about it.

Here’s to hoping for a two-door Cruze variant for the next-generation due out in 2014/5.

Im not saying cruze is a bad car, its only not my taste ^^ Its more the other way, its a good car! In my Country not many chevrolets driving around but when i see one mostly it is a Cruze. Musclecar style was maybe the wrong word choice letz say the edged, sharp and straight style is not realy my style. I love it if the Design have a nice line flow swinged lines like the Tru.
But u maybe right that he will never make it like that on the streets. After seeing some Concepts like the Volt and then the produced version im not realy confident.
Also i dont think that they realy make the TRU because i read in some old news
    http://gmauthority.com/blog/2013/01/reuss-scion-fr-s-subaru-brz-toyota-gt-86-fighter-from-chevrolet-on-the-list/
“we hope that the Code 130R gets the green light, if it hasn’t already.”
Looks like Chevrolet get not a new Buyer.
