Motor Trend Pits Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE Against The Ford Mustang GT Track Pack

2013 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE

The current-generation Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang rivalry isn’t quite dead yet, and it seems the Bowtie isn’t quite finished hitting it home as the superior performance pony car with the latest Motor Trend comparison between the Camaro SS 1LE and the Mustang GT Track Pack.

You’re probably thinking that if the Camaro 1LE could thwart the fantastic Boss 302, then a GT Track Pack shouldn’t stand much of a chance at all. Truth be told, it doesn’t. Aside from posting identical quarter-mile times, the Camaro’s superior grip and overall driving dynamics manage to lay another Mustang to rest. But the $4,000 price-gap between the two may have some leaning towards the Ford for more budget-oriented performance over the Chevrolet. To read the full story, visit Motor Trend.

This isn’t really fair, and unsuspecting people will buy into it. It’s just like their ZR1 vs Viper comparison that fired up Ralph Gilles on Twitter

This is Motor Trend after all. In this case, who cares, the Camaro won.

Now, to see some real performance, get 450 pounds out of the Camaro.

The only automotive performance venue I’ve ever seen where weight helps performance is land speed record attempts, where weight is needed to increase tire traction to overcome aerodynamic drag.
