A Z06 Corvette With A Honda Motor Swap? Blasphemy!

Corvette Z06 VTEC

Have you ever wished that some cars were never created? If not, now is that time. We’ve come across some mistaken Honda lovers that have swapped a stupid B18 (1.8-liter) four-cylinder into a sacred Chevy Corvette Z06. Talk about getting rid of all of the fun, even if it’s some sort of sick joke. No Honda motor will ever sound remotely close to an LS7, which is a large part of why you’d buy something with a 7.0-liter engine.

If you aren’t already bashing your head on the desk, keyboadkjfldrd or the monitor, keep reading. This may be some sort of practical joke. And we sure hope it is, because Maximum Bob Lutz will not have this, so long as he lives. On the bright side, perhaps the mileage would be a bit better.

Thanks to the guys over at Hooniverse, this gives Corvette die-hards something new to clamor about, if they weren’t busy shopping for a C7 Corvette at the moment.

A dry fit joke. The C6 has a ‘nade and a B18 was on a stand nearby; so they just dropped the C6 on top of it.

    Everyone settle down.

I can (sort of) understand the idea. Drop a small engine into the corvette, just to drive it. But why a Z06? why not use the “cheap” one?

OK, so the photo is a farce and a car of that weight wouldn’t
get out of it’s own way ( where’s the transaxle? )…. Still, there is
some form of poetic justice in that shot – just think of how many
Vegas, Civics and VW Beetles have been stuffed with huge
V-8 iron lumps over the decades? Sure, they got down the
dragstrip in a flash, but so do electric cars…. And why not
put an electric motor and stacks of lithium ion cells in a Z-06?

Just for fun, here’s a stock 2013 5 door sedan beating the tar out of a modded
Viper ( cold air intake and pipes ) – and the sedan’s manufacturer
rates this car’s 0-60 at 4.4 sec, but it’s owner gets 3.9…. Oh
yeah, did I tell you it’s a Tesla Model S?

    Check it out:

    You will be surprised!

Not bad for a bunch of Panasonic 18650 cells welded together!

In defense of the viper, it looks like it was in need of a Driver mod. A well driven viper of that generation should do mid-high 11s. Also, the Viper was well on it’s way to out running the Telsa when the traps came up; so it’s still “faster”.

      Either way cool vid.

To be fair, you can’t compare an electric to a gas powered car. It takes 0 time for an electric to gain speed, it is either on or off. Not a fair fight if you ask me.

That’s a nice looking B18! Prank or no prank; with no turbo that would be the most under performing engine swap of the year!

Why not a Turbo LS V6? Buick GN’s were kick-ass, why not a ‘vette? Better economy with equal power! Somebody gimme a hacksaw!
