We’d love to get our hands on this antique GMC truck. And is that a water tank we see in the back?

That is an 1945 GMC AFR-522 COE (cab over engine). GMC made them from 1937-1946.It had a 308 inline 6 that made 92.5 hp. GCVW was 32,000lbs and had a GCW of 19,000lbs. In 1945, base price for this beautiful gasoline truck was $2,823 (but wasn’t hand lettered for that price!).
Impressive info, did you own one?
No, I never owned one. This vehicle in this picture belongs to General Motors Heritage center in Detroit. I was invited their by a high ranking GM offical to take a tour there last year and that happened to be one of the trucks on display.
Glad to see GM at least acknowledges their commercial truck history. It’s about time they got back in it!
