General Motors has filed a trademark application for the words “Citi Express”, GM Authority has exclusively learned. The application was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office on October 1, 2012 and has been assigned the serial number of 85742681.
The filing lists “Motor land vehicles, namely automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks, vans, engines therefor and structural parts thereof” for its good and services category. And five days after its original filing, the application was given a status of 630 (Record Initialized, Not Assigned To Examiner).
The GM Authority Take
Even though reports suggest that GM is not planning to compete in the compact cargo van segment in the near future, Citi Express — for some odd reason — seems like a perfect name for a Chevy-badged competitor to Ford’s Transit Connect.
