Two New Executive Additions At Opel Continue Management Shakeup

After announcing Dr. Thomas Sedran as Opel AG’s new figurehead, it has been made official that Executive Vice President and CFO at Volkswagen Group of America Michael Lohscheller  will join Opel’s Management Board as Opel/Vauxhall CFO and Vice President, Finance, effective September 1.

Also of parallel significance is the addition of Michael Ableson, who has been selected to be the new Management Board member in charge of Engineering, also starting September, 1. This also means that Ableson is the new GM Europe Vice President, Engineering, but will go into effect immediately. Currently, Ableson is GM’s Global Vehicle Line Executive for Compact Cars, based in Russelsheim, Germany.

It will be this new team’s responsibility to steer GM Europe back into the black (which could take a while), and to appease GM CEO Dan Akerson’s desire for progress.
