Tauro Offers Spanish, V8 Take On Pontiac Solstice, We Suggest Something Better

To put it simply, not everyone was a fan of the platform twins Pontiac Solstice, and Saturn Sky. Although they were decent roadsters at a fair price, there was a complete and utter lack of one thing: another four cylinders. At least, that’s what Spanish company Tauro Sport Auto thinks. What they’ve done, is manage to squeeze a 6.2L LS3 V8 under the engine bay of their new sports car, the V8 Spider (how very original). This still-very-much-a-Solstice will come in three variants – 440, 480, and 650hp, with the latter being supercharged. The price? A steep $125,000, or €100,000. And it still comes with the Solstice’s old radio.
It may be stupid fast and svelte looking, but isn’t that a bit much for a car with Nissan 350z headlights and a chassis that sold for under 30 grand in America? We like to think so, which is why we’re presenting you the Mallett Pontiac Solstice, packed with a 7.0L LS7 Corvette Z06 engine, a Cadillac CTS-V’s 6-Speed manual transmission along with its rear axle, and a truck load of suspension, brake and other upgrades — for $85,000 less.
