Spied: A Cadillac ATS-V?

Cadillac ATS Teaser Trunk Open

One of the many benefits to living in southeast Michigan, besides being able to spy on Canada from the riverfront, are the random sightings of camouflaged pre-production vehicles of all types and makes on the road.  And if onlookers are lucky and/or coordinated enough, they will capture a photo or a video and send it to an automotive media outlet. One reader of AutoWeek did just that, and we have reason to believe the vehicle being filmed is a Cadillac ATS-V.

The footage is both brief and blurry. But you can clearly make out that it’s a wrapped ATS, apparently rolling with a pair of exposed ATS models off-camera. What can we expect from this M3-slaying weapon? A twin-tubro V6 pumping out somewhere between 420-440 horsepower, an amazing power:weight ratio, the latest magnetic ride control system and beastly brakes, track-day driving settings, and more aggressive looks — most likely.

Anybody have a Nürburgring lap time prediction? We’re going with the low 7:40′s.

To me it looks like what would be an ATS COUPE… most of the back is covered up to the door, and the back is changed like on how they changed the back a bit from the CTS Sedan to the big butt CTS Coupe lol. But yeah to me it’s the ATS Coupe…I’m pretty sure they’d make a coupe before the ATS-V.

      Thats possible but unlikely

The CTS-V sedan came out before the CTS coupe. But then again theres no reason that couldnt change.

The lower part of the door is covered which to me looks like a distraction from something. But what is that something? Anyway if it was coupe the they couldnt preserve the upper part of the door while changing the lower, too many structural issues as the upper part looks just in sync with the rest of the car. Not to mention that the b pillar is altered for the coupe and this tester look pretty much unchanged, while they could just put that as cover up, it wouldnt be so perfect, it would be a little bent and the gaps between the door and roof would be much bigger.

And if the CTS coupe is any indication of how the ATS coupe will look like, itll be alot more angular, especially from the back.

No , although anything is possible, I think its safe to say with some certainty that is not the ATS coupe body but the ATS-V sedan, unless its an ATS coupe test mule, but then they would have no reason to cover it up.

420 to 440 horsepresure from a V6 would be an EVIL TWIN TURBO. Don’t ya think?

The car is the ATS-V.. Sedan. A Coupe will follow, and is already in development. Expect stagnated releases just like the CTS, but closer in time. Remember that the CTS GEN2′s releases came before, and DURING the BK proceedings. That alone changed a great deal of what was going to happen, including the release of the ATS, which was originally the real car that Bob Lutz wanted to replace the BLS. Of course then.. it was more of a “Torana” ;)
