When tampering with popular shows and videos, one has to take special care that if a spin-off were to be created, it doesn’t just ruin everything. We see it all the time on YouTube, with a bunch of wanna-be internet stars doing their own takes on EpicMealTime, leaving themselves to be devoured by the hoards of trolls awaiting the next thing to hate on. But these videos tend to feature no direction, or budget.
Not so with Chevrolet’s new “Under the Blue Arch” advertising campaign. The videos will actually double as a workplace comedy mini-series, directed by Randall Einhorn, the mind behind The Office and Parks and Recreation. So we can’t call it a total rip-off, considering the same man that made the NBC shows so great is involved with the Goodby, Silverstein & Partners campaign. Hopefully it doesn’t suck.
