When was the last time you took back your defective whatchamacallit to the store and the manager offered to take the gadget off your hands and give you anything on the shelf — even if it was of greater value — while your item was being fixed? Probably never is the answer to assume here. But General Motors is willing to do just that for Chevrolet Volt owners who are concerned about reported fire issues with the vehicle.
That’s right, while the company did say last week that it would offer a loaner to Volt owners as a means of transportation until the issue is resolved, what we didn’t realize is that it could be any vehicle. If a getaway with a Corvette ZR1 is what you desire, GM will let you borrow one with a smile. But chances are most Volt owners wouldn’t go for such a thing. Pity.
