Coming off a record sales month and a supply as tight as ever, General Motors is looking to allow Chevrolet dealers to sell their Volt demo vehicles to consumers in order to loosen the grip on the limited available of the model.
If they do, it would free up roughly 2,300 extra Volts for sale. In total, it would bump up the Volt’s availability to 4,100 units nationwide, with at least another 1,100 on the way from its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. If all of those Volts are sold, then General Motors would indeed meet its yearly sales goal for the Volt set at 10,000 units.
