I’m still in New York, experiencing the town’s (dare I say unique?) automotive culture following the New York Auto Show. While walking the streets of the City That Never Sleeps this evening, I stumbled across this wonderful ad at Times Square. To my surprise, the ad targets the stalwart of the compact segment in the U.S. — the Toyota Corolla. The billboard reads:
“Like a Corolla. But with everything you want. The all-new Chevrolet Cruze.”

Good stuff, Chevy. Very good stuff.
While it’s a very close call in calling the Cruze the best compact car in the world, there’s no question that the Delta II-based sedan (and soon-to-be hatchback) is heads and shoulders better than the lethargic, distasteful, and bland Corolla. As far as we’re concerned, the more aggressive Chevy becomes with its promotions of its new world-class vehicles the better!
