Even though the Chevrolet Camaro is doing well in the sales war against the Ford Mustang, the Blue Oval’s pony car is smacking around that of the Bowtie’s in terms of fuel economy, as the current Mustang can dish out 31 miles-per-gallon to the Camaro’s best effort of 28 miles-per-gallon. Even though many would argue that fuel economy is a secondary influence when coming to a purchasing decision between the two affordable sports cars, it’s a factor nonetheless. Therefore, Chevrolet looks to narrow the gap between the Camaro’s fuel economy rating to that of the Mustang by launching the Camaro 2LS this spring — a package that touts a respectable 30 MPG on the highway. So, you’ve oogled and oggled to your heart’s content over the 550 horsepower 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1. There’s no shame in that. But what if we told you that another ZL1 already exists — and it’s much more powerful? Say WHAT?!

The Chevrolet Equinox recently took the first place award in the USA Today $29,000 SUV Shootout. The test, performed by USA Today, Cars.com, and PBS’ Motorweek, pulled together nine vehicles each with price tags matching or coming in below $29,000.
The nine vehicles were then put through a series of tests and judged by a family to decide which one was the best. The Equinox received top marks for its four-cylinder engine, fit and finish, and the features a family desires in a vehicle. The Chevy beat out other favorites such as the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tuscon, Subaru Forester, Nissan Rogue, Toyota RaV4, Ford Escape and Honda CR-V.
“The Equinox is the clear winner in my book, seemingly belonging to a completely different category of cars: the luxury category,” wrote one of the reviewers.

The first Chevrolet Orlando rolled out of “Chevrolet Town” in Seoul, Korea this week. The Orlando is the first vehicle in GM’s plan to introduce eight new vehicles with the Chevrolet badge within nine months. The plan was announced back in January along side the changing of GM Daewoo to GM Korea.
Additionally, the Orlando is the first of eight vehicles that General Motors will launch in the Korean market under the Chevrolet moniker, phasing out Daewoo in the process.
“We are very excited about the first Chevrolet that was designed in Korea, engineered in Korea and manufactured in Korea. Chevrolet is Korea,” said GM Korea President and CEO, Mike Arcamone.
What GM Korea is calling an “Active Life Vehicle”, the Orlando will be built along side its platform mate, the Chevrolet Cruze at the Gunsan, North Jeolla Province plant and will go on sale in Korea in the beginning of March. GM has made no plans to launch the Orlando in the U.S. market — though the Canadian market will feature the vehicle. Continue reading.

Despite the questionable affairs of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt not qualifying for California’s $5,000 tax rebate, word on the street is that next year’s model will carry an amazing 10-year, 150,000-mile warranty — qualifying it for the Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) rating.
The idea behind the extended warranty term, which marks a gargantuan jump compared to the Volt’s current eight-year, 100,000-mile guarantee, is to deter automakers from gaming the regulations by releasing vehicles with small batteries or electric units that may not be durable enough to last. The Volt’s acceptance into the AT-PZEV category will also grant its owners solo access to California’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes.

When you think of the current Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, chances are you’re not madly in love with the midsized trucks. You might also be happy to know that GM is currently hard at work on their next take at midsized trucks with the next-generation Colorado and Canyon. Continue reading.
