It’s safe to say there’s a bit of an oxymoron at work here. What’s a Chevrolet Camaro doing in the snow? It’s no GMC Sierra HD, you would think that it would get stuck spinning around in place… wouldn’t it? Not if the driver behind the wheel is a professional and the course is closed. Point taken, continue reading.

GM Daewoo has another achievement to add to an already-growing list of accomplishments: The General’s Korean subsidiary has just celebrated building the 25 millionth powertrain at its Bupyeong headquarters in South Korea. 13.3 million engines and 11.7 million transmissions have rolled off GM Daewoo’s factories since 1971. So far in 2010, GM Daewoo has built a record number 2.5 million engines and transmissions. Daewoo’s success is most likely related to the boom of the Chevrolet Cruze compact, which, under one name or another, is currently sold in every continent in the world except for Antarctica. Boy does Vauxhall have a gift for you this holiday season! In a move that even caters to those who’ve been naughty over the past year, the folks at Luton have come out with the Vauxhall Countdown – a 20 percent discount on nearly all new models in the Vauxhall lineup. Oh really? Read on to find out more.

The Canadian branch of General Motors North America is teaming up with Maplesoft, a developer of physical modeling and simulation software, and the University of Waterloo to investigate technologies for electric vehicles, including stability control, power management systems, and battery monitoring and charging devices. Want to go to Super Bowl XLV? Cadillac has 50 tickets up for auction that you can bid on right now, right here, through January 24th. It should be noted that even though General Motors is providing the tickets through Caddy, this is no corporate fundraiser, but rather a benefit auction — much like the recent Chevy Volt sale. All the proceeds will go directly to Cure Duchenne, a non-profit organization based in California dedicated to (you guessed it) curing Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, the most common form of Muscular Dystrophy found in children.
After the jump you will find the presser, coupled with a PSA video featuring Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews — who may go on record of having the largest neck in the world — encouraging us all to step up to help find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
‘Tis the season to give after all. But then again, shouldn’t it always be? Yes it should.

When the hosts of Top Gear USA took a trio of old (and discontinued) General Motors vehicles for evaluation at the Eaton Proving Grounds in Michigan to see which model deserves a chance to come back, we knew that watching their impending antics would be a treat. Several spilled cups of cola, broken eggs and gallons of water later, Rutledge Wood, Adam Ferrara and Tanner Foust reached the conclusion that the one car The General should undoubtedly bring back before anything else is the Buick Roadmaster Wagon — which was able to outperform a 1980-era Pontiac Fiero and a 1970′s Oldsmobile Cutlass. However, what we didn’t expect was for the hosts to show off a rendering of what a present-day Buick Roadmaster Wagon could look like, wood vinyl decals and all. Great episode. Continue reading.

Some of you might better know him as Morpheus — regardless, Cadillac has selected Laurence Fishburne to voice over what the brand is calling the (fiercely named) “Red-Blooded Luxury” campaign. We’re not sure whether that name will also double as a tagline, but we do know that it will be the first effort from Fallon Minneapolis, Caddy’s latest advertising team. Hopefully Fishburne doesn’t scare away Tim Allen, who has been doing great with Chevy. Expect the first ad of the campaign to air during the Rose Bowl football game January 1st, where this writer hopes to see a Big 10 team win a bowl game for a change. As you may have expected, the wretched auto industry crisis of 2008 resulted in significant industry-wide cost-cutting measures. To survive, automakers resorted to layoffs and program cancellations — both of which didn’t prove to be enough for GM (or Chrysler) from capsizing right into bankruptcy. Two years later, the industry is on a steady path to recovery from the doom and gloom, but the aftereffects of the 2008 carpocalypse are still lurking under the radar. Really? Make the jump to read on.

Yes, the oil crisis in the Gulf of Mexico — courtesy of BP — was something the world could have gone without. However, it doesn’t mean some silver lining — no matter how small — can’t come out of the disaster. Case in point, General Motors has begun to utilize an estimated 100 miles worth of used oil booms that were used in the cleanup to make several components in (you guessed it) the Chevy Volt. Though Playboy Magazine is known for (*ahem*) other things, the publication is a decent source of reading material (no, really), delving into nearly every subject of guy-stuff, including cars. As it turns out, the magazine’s staff has fallen deeply in love with the CTS-V Coupe (possibly as much as Hugh Hefner’s fascination with blondes) – so much so that it peeled away with their Best Sports Coupe For 2011 title.
