Monday (August 16th) marked the beginning of Cadillac CTS Coupe Premiere week, where Caddy’s new coupe was unveiled to the public in 300 dealerships across the United States.
GM expects the CTS Coupe to attract “a new generation of luxury sports car enthusiasts to Cadillac.” GM’s luxury marque hopes that the CTS coupe will compete with the BMW 335i Coupe, Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupe, as well as the Audi A5.
However, certain members of the GM Authority crew believe that BMW’s 3 series coupe does not belong on that list and should be replaced with the 6 series instead. Just take a look at the proportions of the CTS compared with the 6er. What do you think? Sound off in the comments after the jump. Click here to sound off.

General Motors has just announced that it will invest $20 million in its Bay City, Michigan plant. This is the third investment by GM of its kind and brings new investment at the facility to $62.5 million this year.
The plant will build camshafts for the next-gen ECOTEC engines, GM’s highest volume and most advanced four-cylinder powerplant that propels The General’s most popular vehicles, including the Chevy Malibu and Equinox, Buick LaCrosse and Regal, as well as the GMC Terrain. Looks like Opel’s new lifetime warranty isn’t sitting well with a German federal agency. Specifically, the German Federal Committee Against Unfair Commercial Practices has called the automaker’s new warranty “misleading.” Continue reading.

A transmission developed by GM SAIC
It’s no secret that General Motors has exploded with popularity in China ever since it embarked on a partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) thirteen years ago. Recently, the partnership between GM, Wuling and SAIC (known collectively as SGMW) has introduced plans for Baojun – an all-new brand that looks to increase the availability of cars to China’s middle class by offering small and dependable cars at affordable prices. Today, the latest installment to this successful collaboration between the three companies is the development for all-new, small displacement engines and transmissions. Continue reading.

Today, General Motors has filed for its Initial Public Offering (IPO) with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), bringing our favorite automaker one step closer to paying back the Federal Government. This comes to us on the heels of last week’s big GM news, incuding two consecutive quarters in the black as well as Ed Whitacre’s plans to step down as CEO. If you’re a General Motors fan, today’s a good day. Continue reading.
Spec sheets and numbers are virtually worthless if a vehicle feels like a broken tin box running on nothing but hope. In other words, all the hype in the world can’t deliver real-world results. So it’s a good thing GM took this into consideration when it developed the all-new GMC and Chevy HD pickup trucks to be just as good at towing, hauling, and driving as the trucks’ performance on paper. And the results of the latest PickupTrucks.com Heavy-Duty Shootout prove this.
Against the likes of the highly comparative Ford and Ram three-quarter and full-ton trucks, The General’s 2500 and 3500 HD models, equipped with the Herculean 6.6 liter Duramax diesel engine, emerged as clear winners. Continue reading.
Ex-GM CEO and Chairman Rick Wagoner has joined the board of Aleris Holding Co., an aluminum recycling company.
“He brings a wealth of expertise that will be invaluable to Aleris as we continue to strengthen our company and grow,” said Steven Demetriou, chief executive officer of the company.
This is the second board Wagoner has joined since being ousted from GM in August 2009. Back in June, Wagoner joined the board of The Washington Post.
Perhaps Aleris’ business plan involves selling its recycled aluminum to automakers such as GM, with which Wagoner obviously has somewhat of an “in.” But maybe we’re diggin too much into this.
Whatever the case may be, we should keep in mind that it was Wagoner who it most directly responsible for the great products that have most recently come out of and are coming from GM, including the Buick LaCrosse, Regal, and Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, Equinox, Camaro, Cruze, Volt, and next-gen Aveo, as well as the entire Cadillac lineup. And for this, we thank him.
